Bernard Thonon
Program Manager Energy Systems and Networks
CEA

Bernard Thonon is program manager on Energy System and Energy Networks at CEA-LITEN, France. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the INSA-Toulouse, France, in 1985 and a Ph-D in mechanical engineering from the University of Nancy, France, in 1991. He has published more that 25 papers and book chapters in the areas of heat transfer and energy technologies.

He has coordinated several European research projects on energy technologies (heat exchangers, heat pumps and renewable heating and cooling technologies). From 2014 to 2020 he has managed the division on energy system for industry and territories at CEA-Liten. From 2008 to 2013 he has managed the Solar Thermal Energy (STE) activities at CEA-INES. He has contributed to the development of STE in France and Europe in relation with major industrial companies but also with innovative SME’s. He has a large experience in conducting and managing RTD projects in collaboration with industrial partners.

He is an expert for the French National Research Agency, the Norwegian Research Council, the European Directorate of Research and the International Energy Agency in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energies.
