The US Department of Defense, the warfighter, and the intelligence communities in the USA, are becoming increasingly aware of the very capable and useful geospatial capabilities that have emerged within the Installation & Environment (business mission area) side of the DoD. There is clearly a great need to share standards, data, business processes and practices. And achieving truly seamless GEOINT across the GIG has become a key goal for the organisation. Geospatial information and intelligence is quickly penetrating every aspect and part of government organisations. Decisions are increasingly made on a joint basis, and these days, information is shared across both organisations and nations.
