Lieutenant General Carl-Johan Edström

Chief of Joint Operations Swedish Armed Forces

Lieutenant General Carl-Johan Edström was appointed as Chief of Joint Operations (CJO) Swedish Armed Forces in January 2023.

Carl-Johan Edström has commanded on squadron, group and wing level in the Swedish Air Force. He has held the assignments of Chief of Operations for the Swedish Air Force Detachment during Operation Unified Protector 2011 and Senior Air Advisor/Director CJ 5 for TAAC Air in Afghanistan 2018.

Carl-Johan Edström has been Commander of Norrbotten Wing and the Swedish Air Component Command. Carl-Johan Edström is a command pilot with more than 2 500 hours in the SAAB 105, JA 37 Viggen, and JAS 39 A/B/C/D Griffin. Carl-Johan Edström is a distinguished graduate from both Air War College and the Swedish Defense College. Previous assignment was as Commander Swedish Air Force.
