As more complex issues arise, more comprehensive responses are needed. Military branches can no longer tackle these complex issues alone but cohesively with other organisations (both military and civil). In order to make sure that multi-facet responses are effective, an effective C4ISR system is necessary, translating to several opportunities in the medium and long term for the industry. Defence IQ has just released its Annual ISR Airborne Market Report - detailing global requirements, holdings & acquisitions within the community.
Currently there are 833 Airbonne ISR Aircraft (excluding UAVs ) operational worldwide, of which 508 are reconnaissance aircraft and 325 are AEW. The value of the Airbourne ISR market is forecast at more than $40 Billion over the next 10 years, including $15 Billion for UAV Systems.

There are currently 704 Maritime ISR Aircraft in service in 58 countries. Asia- Pacific has the largest number regionally (260(37%)), followed by North America (162(23%)) and Europe (154(21.8%)). A further 62 aircraft are on order, with Asia-Pacific also having the highest number 35 (48.6%), followed by North America and Europe (both 17) (23.6).
