Captain, Dr Patrick Jungkunz

Head Portfolio Management and Innovation Bundeswehr Centre for Digitalisation

Captain Dr Patrick Jungkunz is a German Naval Officer who is currently serving as the Department Head Portfolio Management and Innovation at the Bundeswehr Centre for Digitalisation. Throughout his career, he has been working in the areas of Weapon Engineering, Information Technology, Digital Transformation and Cyber Defence ashore and on board of frigates. His positions covered a wide spectrum of functional areas: from leadership positions to research, procurement, capability development and defence planning. In his previous position he was Branch Head Cyber Defence at the NATO HQ. Captain Dr Jungkunz earned a Master’s degree in Computer Sciences from the Bundeswehr University, Munich in 2000 and his Doctor of Philosophy in Modelling, Virtual Environments and Simulation from the US Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey in 2009. He is also a graduate of the German Command and Staff College, Hamburg.
