Europol supports Law Enforcement Agencies in EU Member States in their fight against serious and organised crime and terrorism. The Special Tactics Team focusses on covert investigational measures used by Law Enforcement. As a former member of Spanish National Police, I was in charge of specialised covert surveillance operations in which technological and tactical use of geospatial data has and increasing importance. On top of this, I am certified EOD Bomb Technician, expert in Explosives and CBRN threats and this was my job for the last 9 years. As a member of the European EOD Network, the past one year and a half I was working at European Counter Terrorism Centre, within Europol, taking over the analysis of potential threats with Unmanned Aerial Systems. In this sense, our team was focused on the so-called “weaponised drones” as a threat. As a subject matter expert, I am in close contact with the Specialised Surveillance Units, European Agencies, EOD units and networks in the Member States, to develop specific operational tools in counter measures in UAVs that support Law Enforcement operations.
