Head of Standards and Operations Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD)

Armen Harutyunyan joined the GICHD in 2018. As Head of Standards and Operations division, he is responsible for providing strategic vision to the division’s work to achieve maximum impact in the mine action sector. This includes leading a team of experts across three programmes: Standards, Operational Management and Research and Innovation. Prior to joining GICHD, between 2001 and 2013, Armen Harutyunyan worked in humanitarian mine action as operations and programme manager with INGOs and the UN in Africa, Asia, Middle East and Caucasus. Between 2013 and 2018, he has worked in portfolio and project management positions for UNOPS, based in New York and Geneva, in support of peace and security, global health, innovation and other UN-led initiatives, supporting UN and other partners globally. Armen Harutyunyan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philology and an MBA from the University of Leicester’s School of Management in Leicester, U.K.
