Brig Lee Daley joined the Army in 1993 as a Trooper in the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (Royal Horse Guards /1st Dragoons) and after the Potential Officer's Course commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) in 1995. His junior appointments included artillery support transport troop command, working in the base depot in Bicester plus Transport and Supply Troop command on operations in Bosnia and Kosovo. He has been a Military Advisor in Sierra Leone, on the staff at PJHQ in International Training and the staff officer for logistic operations in Iraq in 2006. Brig Daley commanded 63 Air Assault Close Support Squadron and his time was dominated by Op HERRICK 8 in the summer of 2008 where he conducted Combat Logistic Patrols across Helmand Province in Afghanistan (and was awarded a Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service) followed by Public Duties in 2009 as Captain of the Queen's Guard. Brig Daley conducted a post in Army recruitment then his first SO1 (Lt Col) staff role in CSS Force Development prior to command of 1 Logistic Support Regiment RLC in May 2012 in Germany. Command concluded with a deployment as the final Theatre Logistic Group commander on Op HERRICK 20 where the unit closed all theatre accounts and transferred Camp BASTION to the host nation where he received a CGS Commendation. Following command, he moved to technical Capability and Acquisition staff appointments in the DE&S where he worked in global movement planning, logistic capability management and latterly was the lead for the Logistic Vehicle Group portfolio managing nearly 8,000 platforms. He was selected for promotion to Brigadier and assumed the role of Head Supply Chain Transformation Expansion (SCTX) in October 2019 which moved to the Defence Support organisation in April 2021 and was re-titled Logistics Transformation conducting fuels and storage capability transformation interventions across the Defence Support enterprise. He assumed the role of Commandant of the Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration in October 2022 and became the first Commander of the Defence College of Support on unit redesignation in Apr 24. Brig Daley is a graduate of the Defence Logistic Staff Course and the Defence Strategic Leadership Programme; he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and holds an MSciin Supply Chain Management. He is also Chair of UK Armed Forces and Army Nordic Skiing, President of RLC Winter Sports, holds several RLC board level appointments and lives in Berkshire with his wife and three increasingly grown-up children. Hobbies include keeping fit, walking his idiotic Labrador, cooking and movies.
