Group Captain Tim Moss

AH Operations and Plans, Defence Support Strategic Command

Group Captain Tim Moss attended the University of Wales College Aberystwyth, on a Royal Air Force Cadetship, where he read Strategic Studies with International Politics, before attending Initial Officer Training at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, graduating in December 1991. Following Branch training as a Supply (Logistic) Officer in 1992 he completed several tours as a junior officer, before promoting to Squadron Leader in 2002, where amongst various tours he commanded the Joint Supply Squadron at RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus and the Logistic squadron at RAF Odiham, home of the UK Chinook Helicopter Force. In 2010 he promoted to Wing Commander, before attending the Advanced Command and Staff Course at the Defence Academy Shrivenham, where he also gained an MA in Military Studies from Kings College London. He later became the Commanding Officer of the RAF Tactical Supply Wing at Stafford and then the Commander of the Joint Force Support (Middle East) based in the UAE. Promoted to Group Captain in 2018 he was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Joint Force Headquarters, the UK deployable crisis response HQ. More recently he was the Chief Logistic Planner at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Belgium, before returning to the UK to take up his current appointment in the Ministry of Defence within the Defence Support to Operations department. He has completed several operational tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, including a tour with the United States Marine Expeditionary Force in Helmand Province and as a Senior Advisor to the Afghan National Security Advisor in Kabul.
