Dr Jill Hatcher

Director General Corporate DE&S

Jill took on the role of Interim Director General Corporate in May 2024; her current priority is implementing the DE&S strategy, including the operating model changes, to ensure DE&S is able to get ahead of our adversaries today and be ready for the threats of tomorrow. Jill is an advocate of doing this together, across the Defence enterprise, putting people at the heart of the change, so we can solve the common challenges that frustrate us. Jill joined the DE&S Executive Committee in 2021 as Director Human Resources, before taking on an expanded role as Director Strategy, People, Change & Corporate in June 2023. Prior to this, Jill was the Chief People Officer at the Home Office including the Senior Responsible Owner for the government pathfinder (GMPP) programme ‘METIS’, the largest UK public sector shift of finance, procurement, HR and payroll services to the cloud. Her career has spanned five Government Departments, in both HR and business roles, with much of her time spent in the MOD including Defence Equipment & Support, the Permanent Joint HQ and MOD Main Building.
