Colonel Stefan Kern

Colonel Stefan Kern is experienced in combat operations, operational and defence planning as well as force generation. He holds a master’s degree in aerospace engineering and space technology from the Bundeswehr University Munich and a master’s degree in defence studies from the King’s College London. In his current appointment, he is the director of the department of capability management at the Bundeswehr Office of Defence Planning. He assumes responsibility of capability development and management of the German armed forces. This includes supervision of capability deficit analysis and project management. Colonel Stefan Kern successfully attended the German Command and Staff College in 2004, the UK Joint Services Command and Staff College in 2008 and the UK Royal College of Defence Studies in 2020.
