Brigadier General Gianluca FIGUS was born in Oristano (OR) on November 2 nd 1974. Upon graduation, in 1993 has joins the 175 th Italian Army Military Academy course in Modena. Attends the Italian Army War College in Turin from 1995 1998, end his Academy period with a Bachelor of Strategic Sciences degree and gets promoted as Field Artillery Lieutenant. Prior to his current assignment, Brigadier General Figus spent 22 years in a variety of command and staff assignments, most recently serving as Chief of the 1 st section Senior executive employment at SME (Army General Staff) in Rome. Earlier in his career he was Section Commander, deputy Battery Commander within the 21 st Field Artillery Regiment “Trieste” in Bologna from 1998 to 2000. From 2000 to 2002 has been assigned as Platoon Commander and after Coy Commander by the “Teulié” Milit ary School. On 2002 moves to Portogruaro at the 5 th Field Artillery Regiment as Battery Commander and Chief Operation Center until 2006. Has been commissioned in various positions within the Army General Staff in Rome. Appointed as Battalion Commander of the 8 th Field Artillery Regiment “PASUBIO” in Persano from 2014 to the 2015. Promoted Colonel on the 1 st of July 2019 arrives once more in Portogruaro on September 23 rd 2019 where on September 27 th becomes the 86 th Commander of the 5 th rocket launcher Fie ld Artillery Regiment “ Promoted Brigadier General on the 1 st of January 2024 and in the 10 th September same year becomes the 6 th Field Artillery Commander. Brigadier General Figus has served several tours abroad such as Kosovo as Platoon Command er in 1999 and also from July 2020 to January 2021 as Commander of the Regional Command West (RC W) for the JOINT ENTERPRISE O peration , in Afghanistan as Chief Information within ISAF V and CIMIC Liaison Officer at HQ ISAF in 2004 and 2007. Speaks fluent English, French and Spanish. Throughout the various honors and decorations awarded to him the most significant has been The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (USA). Brigadier General FIGUS is married with Luciana and they have one son, Gab riele.
