COL Michael J. Englis received his commission as a Field Artillery Officer from a Green to Gold scholarship, Reserve Officer Training Corps, at Southern Connecticut State University in 2000. He is a graduate of the Infantry Basic and Advance Individual Training, Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Command and General Staff College, Joint Forces Staff College, and Army War College's Yale University Fellowship.
Prior to his assignment to ACM-Fires Cells and Targeting, he served as the Director of the Fire Support Test Directorate. Previous non-command assignments include service as a Mechanized Infantry Soldier in 4th, 3rd, and 1st Infantry Division, where he deployed to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Guard for 6 months; Company Fire Support Officer, Fire Direction Officer, Artillery Platoon Leader, and Battalion S5 in 3-29 Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 4th ID, where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom for 15 months; Requirements Staff Officer at Department of the Army G3/5/7 in the Pentagon; Brigade Assistant Fires Coordination Officer at 3rd Brigade (Stryker), 2nd Infantry Division; Squadron XO in Fires Squadron (Stryker), 3d CR, where he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom for 6 months; Brigade S3 in the 41st Fires Brigade and 1st Cavalry DIVARTY; Corps Targeting Officer in NATO Rapid Deployable Corps-Spain; 10th Mountain Division (Light), as the Division G3 (Forward), and the Combined Joint Operations Center, Situation Awareness Room, and CJ33 Director for the Resolute Support Joint Command in Kabul, Afghanistan for 10 months.
His command assignments include: 23 months as Commander, A Battery, 1st Battalion, 37th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade (Stryker), 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, WA, where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom for 7 months; 24 months as Commander, 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment (Allons), 2nd Infantry Brigade, 10th Mountain Infantry Division (Light), Fort Drum, New York.
Colonel Michael Englis holds a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with 2 OLC, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 OLC, NATO Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal with C device, the Army Commendation Medal with 2 OLC, the Army Achievement Medal with 2 OLC, the Air Force Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Badge.
Married to former Evelyn Ayala with children, Sewtana (28), Cristine (27), James (24), Luis (23), Michael Jr. (22).
