Senior Field Artillery Specialist, Fires Cell - Targeting, Fort Sill US Army

Mr. Cavel has worked in ACM Fires Cells-Targeting since January 2006 as a Capabilities Developer. As a Capabilities Developer his responsibilities include centralized management for all combat and training development activities related to Fire Support and Tactical Automated Systems; represents the User in development, testing, training, and fielding of Centaur, GDU-R Profiler and AFATDS; participates in experiments and requirements definitions of future effects and fire support command and control systems and provides primary software User interface with appropriate material developers. Mr. Cavel chairs the Fire Support Interoperability Board (FSIB) ensuring interoperability of all fire support systems are interoperable with each other and resolving any issues that arise. Prior to working for ACM Fires Cells-Targeting he was part of the Independent Validation and Verification (IV&V) team testing all AFATDS software. Mr. Cavel entered the US Army June 1980 attending Basic training in Fort Bliss Texas then AIT for MOS 24U, NIKE-Hercules Custodial Mechanic converting to MOS 13C in 1984. He has operated every Command-and-Control Fire system to include FADAC, Heavy TACFIRE, Light TACFIRE, BCS, IFSAS and started on AFATDS in 1997. After 22 years of service, he retired in 2002. He is married and has two wonderful daughters. Mr. Cavel has a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Cameron University, Lawton OK.
