Major (OF-3) Carlos DEL RIO GOMEZ was born on 1981 in Madrid (Spain). He entered the Spanish Officers' Military Academy in 2003, and graduated as an Artillery officer in 2008. After leaving the academy as a Second Lieutenant, he led an Air Defense canyon 35/90 mm Platoon for 5 years and commanded a PATRIOT Battery for 4 years. After that, he was posted to NRDC-ESP, where he was in charge of the WFC Battle rhythm and layout manager. In 2019 he attended the Major training course and in 2020 he was promoted to major, being posted to NRDC-ESP, continuing with the same duties explained before. In 2022 he was posted to NRDC-T as Fires Chief Ops Section (JAGIC Chief during exercises and operations). Currently, he is also occupying the ACOS FS position, due to the lack of personnel. Regarding operations abroad, he was in Kosovo in 2008 as a CIMIC Planner, in Lebanon as a JOC watchkeeper in 2015, and in Adana-Türkiye in 2017 carrying out missile defense activities. Concerning courses, he has the following: - Advanced command and control of Air Defense Units. - PATRIOT Officer’s tactical command. - Peace-keeper. - International Humanitarian Law. - All NATO Targeting Courses. Related to international languages proficiency: - English: SLP 3.3.3.3. - French: SLP 2.2.2.2. - Italian: SLP 2.2.2.2. He is married to Carla and they have a daughter (Carmen, 11) and a son (Jaime, 9) who are currently living with him in Uskudar (istanbul).
