Major Yoann Poffet, Deputy Commander of Trial and Training Support Command of the Armour and Artillery Training Unit since January 2024. This command is responsible for the evaluation, development and introduction of the Swiss Armed Forces' future heavy weapon systems. In particular, I am personally the lead for the 12cm mortar 16 programme, which will shortly be introduced into the Swiss Armed Forces. Aged 41, I joined the artillery instructor corps in 2008 and graduated as a career officer from the Military Academy of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich in 2012. Until 2020, I held a number of positions in the artillery and reconnaissance recruit school, before joining the staff of the armour and artillery training unit in the area of instructions and doctrine. I was mainly involved in developing the Swiss doctrine for the use of 12cm and 15.5cm artillery in combat support. In parallel, I have commanded several successive units, including an artillery battery, a fire control centre battery and a transmission company. Since 2020, I've been deputy commander of a mechanised brigade staff battalion.
