Master Sergeant (R) Jimmy Arter is a native of Lake Wales, Florida. He enlisted in the Army June 1990. He completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma as a Fire Support Specialist. Mr. Arter’s assignments include Forward Observer, 8th Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment, Korea, Troop Fire Support Sergeant, 2nd Squadron, 4th Calvary Regiment, Fort Stewart, Georgia, Company Fire Support Sergeant, 3rd and 5th Battalion 29th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado, Assistant Battalion Fire Support Sergeant, 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, Korea, 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Stewart, Georgia, Battalion Fire Support Sergeant, 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment, First Sergeant, 109th Headquarters Support Detachment, G3 Plans and Exercise Sergeant and Operation Sergeant, III CORPS Artillery, Quality Control Sergeant, United States Field Artillery School, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Multiple deployments including Desert Fox, Kuwait, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, Operation Iraq Freedom, Iraq. Mr. Arter continued serving the military as a contractor instructing Joint Observer Course before transitions to a Civil Service Employee as Quality Assurance Evaluator, United States Field Artillery Center of Excellence, Sensor Manager, Fire Support Branch Chief, and Currently Deputy Director, Fires-Capabilities Development Integration Directorate, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Mr. Arter’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3rd award), the Army Achievement Medal (8th award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Parachute Badge, Air Assault Badge. Mr. Arter graduated from Cameron University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and from Central Texas College receiving an Associates of Arts in General Studies. His military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System, Combat Developer Course, Systems Approach to Training, Advanced Military Transition Team Course, Joint Firepower Course, Joint Observer Course, Battle Staff, Total Army Instructor Course, Airborne and Air Assault course. Mr. Arter has been married to the former Brandi Finch of Moultrie, GA for 30 plus years. They have three children, Garrett, Kyler, and Kayla.
