Lieutenant Colonel Brennan Speakes

Commander, 1-7 CAV, 1ABCT, 1CD United States Army

LTC Brennan Speakes hails from Ft Hood, Texas. He earned his commission in 2004 from Texas A&M University with a degree in Business Administration. He is the Commander of 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry “GARRYOWEN,” 1st Cavalry Division, Ft Hood, Texas. In his current role, he has deployed to Poland and participated in robotics experiments in Ft Hood, Texas and Ft Irwin, California.

His initial assignment was with 1-71 CAV, 1st BCT, 10th Mountain Division as a Scout Platoon Leader and Troop Executive Officer with duty in support of OIF 05-06 in Baghdad, Iraq. He also served as the DCG/CG's ADC and the AS-3 in 3-71 CAV, 3rd BCT, 10th Mountain Division.

Following the Maneuver Captain Career Course, LTC Speakes served at Ft Hood, Texas in 1-5 CAV, 2nd BCT, 1st Cavalry Division as the C/1-5 CAV and HHC/1-5 CAV CDR and deployed to OIF 09-10 in Baghdad, Iraq. LTC Speakes then served as a Small Group Instructor at the Maneuver Captain's Career Course. LTC Speakes' next assignment was at the Command and General Staff College, Ft Belvoir, Virginia as an Interagency Fellow. LTC Speakes then transitioned to Ft Stewart, GA to serve with the 3rd Infantry Division and deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan as the USFOR-A J35. He then served as the 5-7 CAV SQN Operations Officer and 1ABCT Executive Officer where he deployed twice in support of the European Regionally Aligned Forces Mission in Europe. LTC Speakes' next assignment was as the 1st SFAB BDE Operations Officer with duty in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Freedom's Sentinel. LTC Speakes remained at Ft Benning to serve in the US Army Armor School as the Commandant's Action Group Lead. LTC Speakes then left Ft Benning to deploy to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve as the Commanding General's XO.

LTC Speakes is a distinguished military graduate of Texas A&M and holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with 2 OLC, Distinguished Meritorious Service Medal with 1 OLC, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 OLC, Army Commendation Medal with C Device with 2 OLC, and the Army Achievement Medal with 2 OLC. LTC Speakes earned the Combat Action Badge and Air Assault Badge.

He is married to Melissa and they share a daughter.
