Piedrafita Systems is a 35-years-old company that contributes to provide ground-breaking solutions to enhance critical system capabilities, as damping systems that have already been validated and are being used in several platform around the world. Due to its extensive experience in developing rotary suspension solutions for military land platforms, Piedrafita is leading a Consortium that brings together a group of highly innovative and technological SMEs to develop innovative mobility systems in land defence vehicles.

This initiative called SRB Project is in the framework of the EDIDP (European Defence Industrial Development Programme) 2020 programme and aims to develop a revolutionary ydropneumatics rotary suspension for armoured vehicles. This state-of-the art hydropneumatics suspension will improve mobility by eliminating the torsion bar.

The technology will also increase suspension travel and offer a progressive spring characteristic, providing unparalleled performance in service. Its easy integration will make this hydropneumatics rotary suspension technology compatible with all currently existing armoured platforms – from 8 to 70 tons, tracked and wheeled, manned and unmanned- and not only on new generation platforms.

Our expertise will contribute greatly to the overall improvement of the European defence industry by addressing a number of capability development priorities, European security of supply, technology priorities defined by the European Defence Agency (EDA), Technology Building Blocks (TBB) and the development and stimulation of key defence-related competences.
