SO1 Commando Systems Navy Command, Navy Acquisition

On joining the Royal Marines, Olly completed Troop Command deployments to Norway and Afghanistan. After Troop Command, he joined the Joint Counter Terrorist Training Advisory Team, broadening his operational experience. Next came a series of staff appointments in Navy Command HQ. A short stint as a Career Manager before 18 months managing the Amphib Ships support programme for the Director of the Land Littoral Manoeuvre Capability Delivery Team. On completion of Initial Command and Staff training, he was assigned back to 3 Commando Brigade as a Unit Operations Officer. At sub-unit, he commanded the Armoured Support Group – who deliver the Viking All-Terrain Protected Mobility platform. Operating in all environments, including swimming, across the globe. Another period in NCHQ followed as the Safety and Risk Advisor to the Director of the Littoral Strike Team, before further Command and Staff training at the Defence Academy. Selecting as the Deputy Chief of Staff for HQ Commando Force on completion, he is now building on this experience as SO1 Commando Systems in the Navy’s Acquisition Directorate. Responsible for Lethality and two Mobility projects covering all new equipment being procured as part of the Commando Force Programme.
