Johan Segertoft

Vice President, Head of Business Unit Gripen Saab AB

Chief Executive and accountable manager for design of JAS 39 Gripen under Swedish European Military Airworthiness Requirements (SE-EMAR) With an MSc & E in Information Technology focusing on secure systems, Johan Segertoft started his career in the automotive industry as an embedded network design expert. With his strong interest in both leadership and technology he quickly became a project manager at Volvo, where he in the end of his tenure in 2007 led the electrical platform development for European brands within the Ford Group. Following a few years managing the business area Architecture and Model-Based Development within a management consultancy, he joined the Aeronautics Business Area within Saab AB in 2010. Aimed to lead the development of the new avionics platform for Gripen he started off as an embedded software developer the first 6 months, to get a deeper understanding of the product and the systems used by fellow engineers. The culmination of the avionics project was the first flight of test aircraft Gripen E 39-8 15th of June 2017, shortly after that Johan took over as the development leader responsible for the next increment in the Gripen E programme, focusing on the development and delivery of Gripen E test aircraft 39-9 and 39-10, while also managing the Project Office at the avionics department. In 2019 Johan joined the programme management team for Gripen E/F and subsequently took leadership of it in 2020 as Head of Programme Management Gripen E/F. In 2022 he progressed to become the Vice President and Head of Business Unit Gripen Design which in 2023 became Business Unit Gripen, consolidating all Gripen versions and related business under one hat
