Marco Gumbrecht

Head of Sales Germany and Director Global Business Eurofighter Airbus Defence & Space

Marco Gumbrecht is Head of Combat Air Systems Sales at Airbus Defence and Space GmbH. He joined the company in 2017 after serving 20 years in the German Air Force as Staff Officer and Fighter Pilot.

His objective as a leader is to achieve sustainable success through an innovative, agile and inclusive approach to work, fueled by passionate people. Marco is focused, humble, credible and approachable. His contribution to Top Company Objectives is manifested in driving change and transformation while securing a stable business foundation.

Marco is a former Lieutenant Colonel of the German Air Force. As a Staff Officer and Fighter Pilot, he flew more than 2700 hours on several Fighter Aircraft including 10 years on Eurofighter Typhoon. Marco was a qualified Weapons Instructor and Flight Instructor, having extensive experience in many Large Force Exercises worldwide, as well as several operational deployments, mainly as part of NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission.

In 2017, Marco joined Airbus Defence and Space GmbH as Business Development Manager where he was responsible for the operational requirements strategy for Eurofighter Export Campaigns. As Head of Future Business Eurofighter Germany, he was responsible for contract acquisition and capability development activities within the Eurofighter Programme Organisation. In his previous role as Head of Training Simulation Military Aircraft, he was responsible for the design and development of training simulators for Airbus’ Military Aircraft Portfolio.

Since April of 2022, Marco is leading all Combat Air Systems Sales activities for Airbus Defence and Space.
