THE MODERNISATION & RECAPITALISATION OF NATO’s LAND FORCES

As NATO’s land forces face the threat of major land warfare in Europe, land forces and land manoeuvre capabilities, including heavy armoured formations, are poised to be a dominant feature of future conflict. Many European armies, particularly those who share a border with Russia or Ukraine, are closing their capability gaps and investing in modernisation programmes to armoured platforms and close fire support. The recapitalisation of European land forces and the development of the industrial base, remains the highest priority for NATO’s European allies as part of its defence and deterrence posture.

Following the resounding successes of the Future Indirect Fires Eastern Europe and Armoured Vehicles Eastern Europe conferences, both recognised as extremely valuable forums for the mechanised infantry and indirect fires communities, it is a pleasure to announce the inaugural Land Warfare Europe 2024. This combined symposium allows for the cross-pollination of ideas on long-range fires acting in concert with IFVs and MBTs on the battlefield to produce ground manoeuvre effects.

Officially supported by the Romanian Armed Forces, Land Warfare Europe will explore the current and future threat environment and discuss NATO’s role in improving the security of nations along the Eastern Flank, providing critical updates on the defence strategy for the Black Sea region.

Meet and participate in discussions with the artillery and armour community's thought leaders, policy makers and innovators, including land force commanders, artillery chiefs, capability development officers, and heads of mechanised and fires brigades.

Key Topics
  • Modernisation Priorities: implications for vehicle upgrades including Europe’s quest to enhance the survivability and lethality of main battle tanks
