Training Solutions Designer Airbus DS

He is a Colonel (Reserve) in the Spanish Air Force and a training and maintenance aviation expert working at Airbus since 2023. He joined the Spanish Air Force Academy in 1982 and graduated as Lieutenant in 1987. His professional activity was initiated as member of the Spanish Special Forces for 4 years (1987-1991). Later on he flew Casa 212, Casa 235, Hercules C130, Airbus A400M and E3C “Awacs” as transport pilot in different periods between 1991 until 2015 and totalizes 4000 Flight Hrs on those aircraft, including a three years period as NATO AWACS Squadron Commander in Geilenkirchen (Germany). A part of that, throughout his flying career he has been also Flight Instructor in the Spanish Air Force Academy in three different periods totalizing eight years as a trainer and more than 2000 FH flown. In 2016 he was nominated as the first European Tactical Airlift Centre Commander, holding that position during the implementation phase (1 year) and the initial operational phase (two years). This Centre, developed under the European Defence Agency umbrella, is providing advanced and tactical training to the most experienced European Military Transport Pilots. In real operations, as Transport and Air to Air Refuelling pilot, he has participated in the European Union evacuation of Belgium Forces in Ruanda (1994), Operations Deliberate Force and Deny Flight in former Yugoslavia conflict (1994-1998) and Operations Endurance Freedom and ISAF in Afghanistan (2001-2002 and 2011-2015). As manager position he was designated as Air Power Advisor for the Spanish Secretary of Defence (2007-2011) and Head Office Maintenance of the Spanish Transport Fleet (2015), Head Office Operations of the Spanish Transport Fleet (2017) and Head Office Logistic Planning for the Spanish Logistic Command (2019-2023). Col Romero holds a Master Degree in Business Administration, a Continue Airworthiness Inspector Licence and a Dangerous Goods in Aviation Instructor Licence issued both by the Spanish Air Safety Agency and validated by EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency).
