Michael Sauer
Director Business Development Europe CAE Defence and Security
Michael completed 21 years’ service in the German Air Force in August 2009, having reached the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
He trained as a Tornado Pilot, achieving around 2,500 flying hours while holding various staff and leadership roles in Fighter Bomber Wing 31 “Boelcke”, such as commanding 311 Squadron and ending his military career as the Wing Operations Officer.
Following his Luftwaffe career Michael enrolled in the Open University Business School and gained an MBA in 2012. During the following years he developed business experience as a freelance consultant and interim manager.
He joined CAE in February 2017 in a customer support role, with his main focus being the support of the Luftwaffe Tornado Training System. In 2020 Michael took over responsibility as the Director for Strategy and Business Development in Europe.
