Defence & Security Policy Leonardo

Alex joined the company as a Defence & Security advisor after 37 years in the Army. He has focussed primarily on improving aviation capability in the Land domain, with one of his more noteworthy recent projects being a successful Manned Unmanned Teaming demonstration of a Wildcat with a semi-autonomous UAS. During his military career Alex commanded a Flight, a Squadron and a Regiment, and deployed on operations to Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. Aviation staff appointments have included a Capability Development post in the Central Staff, an Organisation & Deployments post in the Directorate of Army Aviation and the post of Assistant Head Safety and Assurance in the Joint Helicopter Command. He has also served as an instructor at the Defence Academy and been Commandant of the School of Army Aviation. His final appointment was Commander of the Watchkeeper Tactical Unmanned Air System Force in the Joint Helicopter Command. He is married to the lovely Anna and has two gorgeous daughters, Isi and Emily, who are now both at University, so not quite off his hands. He enjoys skiing, sailing and rugby, though he has hung up his boots a while ago.
