Jorge Van Hemelryck

Chief of the Strategy Office, Aeronautical Maintenance Directorate French Ministry of the Armed Forces

After graduating in 2000 as an aeronautical engineer, and completing fighter pilot training in the French Air Frorce, Jorge Van Hemelryck started working at DGA – General Directorate for Armaments as a flight test engineer on fighter aircraft in Istres, and was in particular responsible for the test campaign leading to the qualification of the Rafale F3 standard. Moving to Paris in 2009, he represented France at the Certification and Qualification Committee for the A400M programme as head of the French technical team, and obtained the Military Type Certificate for the A400M from the French Military Certification Authority. In 2013, he was nominated National Technical Expert with the NCI Agency in Brussels in the AirC2 domain, while assuming the responsibility of Programme Manager for ACCS deployment in France. Back in Paris in 2016 as a Capability Manager, he was in charge of preparing future Helicopter and Transport Aircraft programmes, and contributed to passing key milestones on the Joint Light Helicopter (HIL) and Tiger Mk3 programmes. Since June 2018, he is the Head of the Strategy Office at the recently created DMAé –Aeronautical Maintenance Directorate, in charge of defining the policy and strategy for a more efficient logistic support of French military aeronautical equipment.
