Colonel Mats-Uno Runeson

Deputy Wing Commander, Helicopter Wing Swedish Armed Forces

Colonel Runeson began his career in the Army Air Corps in 1989 as a flight Engineer. He has served in several units covering BO-105, CH-46, Agusta A109, NH-90 and UH-60M. Participation in the procurement of Swedish version of NH-90 (Nordic Standard Helicopter Program) 1999 followed by initial fielding in to service. The focus since 2010 has been on developing helicopter support to the Special Forces. The result today is the SOF support squadron also known as Special Helicopter Group, a part of Swedish SOF system. He graduated from the Advanced Command Course 2010 and became Head of Helicopter Maintenance in the Wing. In 2015 the Plans and Finance department of the Defense Staff before taking command of the SOF support squadron in 2018. He was assigned head of Aircraft Maintenance in the Airforce and later on to DCOS Support in the Airstaff. Colonel Runeson have several deployments in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Mali. His current command, since October 2024, is deputy Commander at the Swedish Airforce Helicopter Wing.
