RAdm Serge Bordarier was born on 17 April 1969 in Soissons. He entered the French Naval Academy in 1990.
After the Jeaneed'Arc campaign and a first experience on board the LSDH Foudre, he chose to serve in the naval aviation force and was certified as a multi-engine pilot in 1996.
Pilot then aircraft commander on ATL2, he served in the 21F squadron in Nimes-Garons. He was regularly deployed on external missions and took part in several national or combined forces operations.
In 2002, he join the Naval School as director of a class of students. After attending the 14th promotion of the Joint Defense College (War College), he commanded the ATL2 23F flotilla at the Naval Aviation Base of Lann Bihoue (Lorient) from 2007 to 2009. He participated in the operation to free the French hostages of the sailing ship Carre d'As in September 2008.
He then served three years within the Navy's HR department as head of career management for naval aviation officers.
His return to the forces was marked by the responsibilities of executive officer on the air defence destroyer Chevalier Paul in 2012, then commanding officer of the frigate La Fayette from 2013 to 2015. He then took part in several operational missions in the Mediterranean, in the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Gulf and the Atlantic Ocean, including the Jeanne d'Arc 2014 mission.
Assigned to the command of the maritime zone and the maritime prefecture of the Mediterranean Sea, he was head of both operations division and maritime operations center (J0 CECMED) for three years.
Auditor of the 131st session of the NATO Defense College in Rome in 2017, he then joined the Naval Aviation Force Staff (ALAVIA) in Toulon as head of the risk management office.
He commanded the naval aviation base of Lann Bihou (in Brittany) from 2018 to 2020 then served as deputy director of studies and HR policy at the Navy's HR department in Paris and delegate for the Navy reserves from 2020 to 2022.
Promoted to Rear Admiral on 1 January 2022, he was appointed Commander of the Naval Aviation Force on 1 July 2022.
Rear Admiral Bordarier is an officer of the Legion of Honor, an Commander of the National Order of Merit, and a holder of the Aeronautics Medal, the National Defense Gold Medal, the Trident Clasp Maritime Defense Medal, and the French Commemorative Medal with the Afghanistan Clasp. He ahs nearly 4000 flying hours.
He is married and has five children.
