Ms Chui Yong is newly back from a 3-year stint in Switzerland where she served as Chief Security Officer of the Bank for International Settlements in Switzerland, running the Bank's cybersecurity and physical security programs. She has returned to Australian government bringing a fresh lens on cyber security management within a multi-national, economic and central banking context, informed by a seat on the executive team of a globally significant financial institution located in the heart of the European region. Before she left for Europe, she’d run the government's cyber security prevention program at the Australian Cyber Security Centre, advised on technology risk associated with proposed national critical infrastructure acquisitions, managed the government’s 'red' teams, led the production of assessments on technology vulnerabilities and helped to re-shape earlier versions of ASD’s Information Security Manual. Chui began her career as a police officer at the AFP before quickly pivoting instead towards a career in technology risk by accepting roles with Dimension Data and KPMG in Sydney. She later returned to manage the Australian Federal Police’s protective security functions before a substantive promotion took her to the Department of Agriculture where is Assistant Secretary of Cyber Security today. A life-long learner, Chui is currently undertaking a Certificate Program in Data and AI leadership at Carnegie Mellon University, based in Pennsylvania. She holds a BA LL.B, 2 Graduate Diplomas (in Data Science and in Legal Practice) and an MBA (Technology) from the AGSM. She is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and newly, an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD, France. Chui is proud holder of a Defence Service Medal, having served as a general service officer in the Australian Army (Reserve). In 2019, she was named Women in ICT's Woman of the Year.
