Captain Ali Ashour FRINA, FIES PhD Researcher, PDRC-UoS

Captain Ali Ashour is a Senior Engineering officer within the Naval branch of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, brings more than two decades of impactful service across various technical and advisory roles. Currently he is undertaking an industry-based Ph.D. at the University of Strathclyde’s Peridynamics Research Centre (PDRC) in collaboration with BAE Systems UK, where his research focus lies in strategic feasibility, technical governance, and capability building. Acknowledged as a Fellow of several royal institutions, most notably the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA), while serving as a senior senior consultant. Captain Ashour is currently a board member at the Institute of Engineers in Scotland (IES). He serves as a bridge connecting research to the effective formulation and implementation of technical policies at an international level. His diverse skills, roles and interdisciplinary research serve as part of Kuwait's contributions to global capability development, particularly in advancing a global secure and sustainable maritime future.
