Commander Jim Weapon Hyde

Engineer Officer HMS VENTURER, First of the Class T31 Frigate, Royal Navy

Cdr Jim Hyde joined the Royal Navy in 2000 as a Weapon Engineer. He has spent a career serving in Frigates, and in the Capability Management & Acquisition field ashore. The latter has included enabling the introduction into Naval Service of new radar and missile systems, Information Services and surface platforms. He is a Chartered Engineer, with Master’s Degrees in Engineering, Guided Weapons and Defence Studies. He joined HMS VENTURER in November 2023, working to prepare the Ship’s Company to take ownership of the vessel on completion of her build, and to establish the template for Type 31 ‘next generation’ Frigate operations.
