An aircraft carrier refers to a type of surface ship that serves as a floating airbase. They maintain a flight deck and various facilities to maintain and launch aircraft. Aircraft carriers tend to lack offensive weapons in their own right and are protected by its own assortment of aircraft and other allied warships.
