Having recently hung up his beret, a former Royal Marine and supporting element to the Special Forces opened up on the topic of British small arms as Defence IQ asked him for his assessment of standard service rifles and to address a few of the most contentious topics of debate from an operator’s up-close and personal perspective. The SA80 A2 is "perfect" for conventional forces, but specialist services want to see some improvements, according to feedback between Royal Marines serving in Afghanistan and Defence IQ.
